Political Slip Up by Samford Candidate

As per the norm when an election is in the future, a 'Meet the Candidates" meeting was held in the constituency of Ferny Grove, in Samford Village. Representing the LNP in 2012 was Dale Shuttleworth, who will be opposing the current MP, Geoff Wilson. Normally at these meetings the aim is to cast a good light on yourself, while portraying your opponent as a bumbling fool. Unfortunately for Dale Shuttleworth he mixed up the old formula, showing himself in a less than complimentary light.

When asked by an interested constituent who would be Premier if Campbell Newman lost his battle to win the seat of Ashgrove, Dale Shuttleworth was said to reply "Anna Bligh", the leader of the Labour party and current Premier.

It is unclear if this was a simple slip of the tongue, or whether Dale Shuttleworth really has so little faith in the future of his own party without the leadership of the former Lord Mayor of Brisbane. Either way, this won't reflect well on Dale or his party.

If anyone has any comments on what this could mean for the LNP both within the constituency of Ferny Grove and state-wide, feel free to leave comments below.

  1. I wonder at the impact this fumble will have state-wide. It should make quite an impression on the Ferny Grove (and Samford, of course) Community when voting, but will it matter in the greater scheme of things? Anna Bligh isn't looking too popular at the moment...
